On January 10, 2025, the Office of Infectious Disease and HIV/AIDS Policy (OIDP) hosted a landmark meeting at the White House through its Black Women’s Initiative (BWI).

Key highlights:

  • Convened 35+ C-suite leaders to address persistent HIV disparities affecting Black women across the U.S.

  • Focused on engaging both cisgender and transgender Black women in a national, coordinated effort to improve health outcomes.

  • Emphasized mobilizing networks and developing actionable strategies for organizations and communities.

Leadership and facilitation:

  • BWI is co-led by Dr. Marissa Robinson, DrPH, MPH, and CAPT Jyl Martin, MPH, RN, who are driving the initiative’s vision and impact.

  • The meeting was co-facilitated by PACHA members Tori Cooper, MPH, and Dafina Ward, JD, whose leadership helped shape dynamic and strategic discussions.
