As part of World AIDS Day 2022, CVS Health and Accenture presented a compelling installment of their LGBTQ+ Health Equity Speaker Series, focused on breaking the cycle of HIV misinformation, stigma, and bias. This dynamic conversation brought together thought leaders from government, industry, pharmacy, and advocacy to reflect on the history of HIV/AIDS and chart a path forward grounded in equity and inclusion.

Panelists included:

  • Dr. Marissa Robinson, Ending the HIV Epidemic in the U.S. Initiative Coordinator, U.S. Department of Health & Human Services

  • Jeff Berry, Director of The Reunion Project, a national alliance of long-term HIV survivors

  • Dr. David Malebranche, Senior Director, Global HIV Medical Affairs, Gilead Sciences

  • Elizabeth Rodriguez, Pharmacy Manager, CVS Specialty Retail

The discussion explored persistent challenges—including stigma and systemic inequities—and elevated community-informed solutions. Panelists highlighted the importance of:

  • Accurate public health messaging

  • Culturally responsive care

  • Continued leadership from those most impacted by HIV

Dr. Robinson emphasized the power of interdisciplinary collaboration and the necessity of learning from the early days of the HIV epidemic to shape current and future responses. Her remarks underscored that breaking down silos and centering lived experiences are key to transforming policy into meaningful progress.

This conversation served as a powerful call to action—urging public and private partners to work in concert to create an HIV-free future rooted in evidence, equity, and empathy.
